Does this tulip photo speak to you? What feelings do you get when you see this image?

I took this photo while visiting the Tulip Festival in Holland, Michigan Mother’s Day weekend May 2008. I had a strong desire to pluck the tulip from the ground and run, keeping it all to myself and soaking in its beauty, but I wanted others to enjoy it too. So, I took a photo of it and left it for others to enjoy during its time of bloom. To me, this photo represents a special time my mother and I shared on a weekend get away at the most charming bed and breakfast, Crimson Cottage Inn, of which we all too often do not take the time to do. It represents the beauty God shares with us everyday, it represents femininity, uniqueness, power, simplicity and strength. When I see this image, it evokes so many feelings in me and I want to share it with others for a greater cause than just my visual and emotional enjoyment.

This is not an individual journey I am taking through life. I want to give back to the world in as many small and mighty ways as I can, but I need your help and the help of those you know. I captured this image through my camera, but I truly believe it was captured so that I would share it with others for their personal enjoyment while having an opportunity to contributing to a greater cause as well; that is why I am offering this image for sale with ALL proceeds going to help fight breast cancer through mammograms for women in need.

Do you know someone who has suffered, who has recovered, or who was lost to breast cancer? Most likely you do.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women.

However, do you also know that research and early detection are making a difference?

In the United States, incidence of breast cancer has decreased significantly by 3.5% per year from 2001 to 2004 among women and deaths have decreased significantly by 2.2% per year from 1990 to 2004 among women. (2004 latest data available)

Selling this print, I feel, is a small way I can contribute to the fight against breast cancer and give you as a contributor something to cherish as well. Please join me in this fight!

Sales of this print will run from September 22 to November 2, 2008.

With your permission, I will post your name on the site as a contributor (donation/purchase amount will be omitted). You will receive a receipt to use for tax deduction purposes and you will have a beautiful print to hang in your home, office, give as a gift or cards to share with others. Wedding Photography: As of September 1, 2008, I am no longer booking wedding photography sessions. Thank you to all the kind brides and couples who have contacted me, but due to the Saturday commitment and my dedication to other areas of my photography and family I can no longer accept bookings. I will occasionally schedule a wedding if the fit is right for both the couple and myself so please feel free to contact me to discuss options - I can also refer you to many wonderful photographers in your area that may be available for the date.
